Match Report

The Under 13s’ first home game of the season saw them face a team who'd travelled all the way from Bishop's Stortford. Bank began brightly, with committed rucking and strong supporting lines seeing them score from their first possession. But Bishop's Stortford struck back immediately, pressing home their territorial advantage from a fumbled restart by Bank to strike back immediately.

Both teams tightened their defences, and the first half became a cagey affair. Strong running and support play from both sides was undermined by a few too many no-look miracle passes. However, aggressive defence and a strong scrum from Bank began to tell, and they ended the half 3-1 ahead following an interception from Tom S and a close range effort from Gregor.

The second half saw Bank press home their advantage in the forwards. Although there were still wayward passes and turnovers aplenty, Bank made the scrum advantage tell and made good use of their possession with some scything runs from the backs and especially Toby, who scored 3 tries with scything runs through the Bishop's Stortford defence. The final score was 8-1, with Tom W and Ale also adding to the total.
