Bank of England RFC
2016/17 ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING
Held on Saturday 30th September 2017

The Chairman (Bryan Brown) and the Treasurer (Sue Steward) opened the AGM at 5.30pm by offering a warm welcome to the 35 attending players.
Apologies had been received from Ian Canning, Simon Devis, Graham Sheridan, Jerry Wright, Paul Giles and Stephen Williams.

Approval of 2016/176 accounts. Sue outlined the distributed 2016/17 accounts. Sue explained the limited Bank funding we received, the requirement for Club events to be self-funded and importance of players promptly paying their subs/bills as our main income source. After a general financial discussion, the AGM approved the 2016/17 accounts.

Election of the 2017/18 Officers. Bryan outlined the proposed Club Committee (below), offering his own and the Committee’s grateful thanks to the following individuals for the huge amount of work each person achieved over the summer.
1. Jerry Wright for the behind-the-scenes day to day Club management
2. Paul Giles for the new season’s fixtures
3. The new Captains and Chief Whips for the major role they will play this season
4. Alasdhair Lochrane and Jonah Dale who have impressively regenerated the website
5. All our new players who have joined us and settled in very quickly
6. The Sports Club staff and groundsman who provide our enviable facilities

However, the most important thanks went to Simon and Chris for their endless work over the summer to recruit so many talented players, establish first class team Captains & Vice Captains and create such an impressive squad of committed players. All their hard work and dedication over the last few months had culminated today (30 Sept) with three Bank XVs playing, something the Club had wanted to achieve for many years.

The AGM therefore recorded the Club’s sincere thanks to a) all the players for their support and commitment to achieve the goal of three XVs and b) Graham Sheridan for the on-going support from the Minis & Youth Section, who today proudly fielded 6 of their former players in the senior XVs. After a general discussion regarding the above, the AGM approved the listed 2017/18 Club Committee. Sports Club and Middlesex RFU. Bryan outlined two points for the players information.

• Floodlights: The Club has secured the required Bank and RFU funding for the new training floodlights which will be ordered very soon. Bryan recorded his thanks to Simon for the hours of work he had spent on this matter to secure this important new training facility.

• Referees: Middlesex RFU are asking all Clubs to ensure they correctly ‘host’ the match referees by meeting them on arrival, buy their drinks & food and offer to pay for any travelling expenses. Clubs will be formally reprimanded for failing to host referees. Team Captains and Vice Captains were asked to take note of this County request.

Open Forum. The points below were discussed during an Open Forum and summarised as follows.
1. The essential role the 2nd XV play as a platform for i) new players to develop and ii) a buffer between the 1st XV and the 3rd XV.
2. Encourage Players Committees as an important link with the main Committee [Capts]
3. Arrange a home match Physio service [Bryan]
4. In advance of the 4 Nov London Welsh game, i) ask Graham to consider if the Minis can support the 1st XV and ii) a pitch side raffle [Jerry]
5. The promotion of the 100 Club to increase our funds [Bryan]
6. Promote to the players i) RFU registration membership, ii) Bank Sports Club membership and iii) International ticket applications. [Team Capts]
7. Provide a platform to develop links with the upper age groups Junior players and their Coaches to encourage them to play for the Senior XVs in due course [Bryan and Graham]
8. Committee to consider the best way to further develop the growing Club momentum by:
• building upon the very successful 2016/17 End of Season Dinner
• holding further all-Club three XVs social events
• continued support for Simon and team Captains
• continued player recruitment and improved new player inductions

Bryan closed the AGM by thanking everyone for their important contributions, offers to help and development ideas for the forthcoming season. He also thanked the Capts and all the players for achieving such an important goal today with three XVs being fielded. This provided a clear illustration of the growing momentum and Club commitment within all three XVs – something everyone should be very proud about.

The AGM closed at 6.20pm
