2017/18 Awards

Last night we held our Annual End of Season Dinner to celebrate an enjoyable and successful season for all three senior XVs... a great night celebrating everyone's contributions both on and off the pitch. After a tremendous hog roast feast, we made the following awards. As the Club Chairman, it was my privilege and honour to present these players with their well-earned awards.

Plans for 2018/19

Over the summer I'll be discussing with the Committee and senior players six key points for the next season. Amongst other issues, we’ll be concentrating on:

  • Pre-season training and XVs development. To help Simon and the XVs Captains prepare for 2018/19, i.e. player recruitment, training and development. For the first time in many years, we’ve had enough players to support three XVs and we’re committed to maintaining this next season.
  • Minis and Juniors. It’s been tremendous to have several junior players progressing through the ranks and now playing for the senior XVs. Players such as Liam Murphy, James Dooling and Dan Kirrane have played extremely well for the first XV, Sovereigns or Picquets this year. With the help of Graham Sheridan (Mini/Jnr Chairman) and his Committee, we will between us ensure the same opportunity is given to all other junior players.
  • Friends & Vets lunches. Throughout 2017/18, it’s been great to meet on the touchline, a large number of player’s parents and friends who called in to support the Bank.  Once the 2018/19  fixtures are published, I'll set up four dates when players' parents, friends, Mini/Jnr parents and Vets can join us for a relaxing pre-match lunch, meet the players and then 'stagger' to the touchline to cheer the sides on.
  • RFU Junior Vase. This Cup competition is limited to Clubs within our level without senior clubs joining in the later stages. It therefore offers an ideal the opportunity for the Bank to focus on this as it’s quite within our reach to progress through to the final stages. Something which the Coach and 1st XV squad will be looking at during the summer.
  • Website. Expand our excellent website to broaden its coverage, content and use by family and friends. Tom Watkins, Alasdhair Lochrane and a few others have worked very hard over the last few seasons to develop the website and I’m very keen to help them extend the site and provide an even better service for players, parents, friends, Mini/Jnr parents and Vets.
  • A mid-season black tie Ball for players, Vets, their wives and girlfriends. A great way to celebrate with family, friends, wives and girlfriends in the wonderful Bank surroundings. We’ll develop a theme, costs and a few option dates before details are published.

To everyone involved with the Club and our many supporters ......well done and thank you for your continued commitment and support. Have a great summer break and I look forward to meeting you all again next season.
