Letter From the Chairman 8th November 2017

Posted by Alasdhair Lochrane on 8 November 2017

Dear Players, Members and Spectators, Gentlemen,

What a phenomenal game on Saturday against London Welsh which they sadly stole in the last minute to beat us 23-25. We had a fantastic crowd of 150+ with a tremendous atmosphere. The Bank 1st XV played like Trojans against a bigger pack, coming back from 0 -12. A bruising game but everyone was very proud of the Bank’ determination and entertaining style of rugby.

It is always difficult being the wrong side of the final result that is so close but that was a proper squad effort from all 18, along with a lot of players on the side line helping out to make sure everything ran smoothly.

We played some of the best rugby from a Bank team in years. The forwards in particular battled hard for the full 80 and made sure that the opposition were met with a ferocious defense and accurate hard-nosed rucking, while in attach, we repeatedly drove into them.

We are now focus on the next game. Barnet Elizabethans have had two very good wins, the last one beating Wasps away 41 – 12. It is important that we remember that winning a league isn’t just winning a battle; it is about winning a campaign. The Bank 1st XV are top of the league and the league’s best team .. but we cannot afford to take anything for granted and must make sure we are up for every game.

Many thanks to those who came down to watch - your support was invaluable and I hope you enjoyed the afternoon.
